Meet the Instructors

Danielle Harris

All my life I have had extreme anxiety, my mom would have me join her while she followed yoga recordings on
video cassettes. It wasn’t until I moved to Calgary in 2000 that I attended my first formal yoga class. I remember
leaving class like I was walking 2 feet off the ground. I was hooked! Yoga, meditation and Reiki continues to help
me cope with high anxiety.
In my 13 years of experience I have training in Raja and Hatha yoga traditions, teaching children, meditation and
Reiki. My focus in class is to create a safe atmosphere where the student can slow down, connect movement with
breath, listen to the subtle information that comes from the internal world, quiet the mind and notice the flow of
change. It is in this space that we heal.

When I began my adventure with Fitness . I was extremely over weight, felt awful. I ate fast food, drank pop, and smoked cigarettes on a regular basis. I decided to do something about my health. I immersed myself in a new lifestyle and have never regretted it. I made the necessary changes to my health and wellness journey for the rest of my life. I take pride and am very passionate about helping others target their objective. I make it a goal to help people live a lifestyle that will minimize the risk of future health related issues, taking in thier accountability to maintain their purpose and accomplish goal.

I had done yoga off and on for a number of years but in 2012 I stepped onto the mat and realized this is what I had been looking for. I dedicated myself to my practice and in 2015 I took my first teacher training with Erin Evans. My practice helped me in so many ways! It created strength and flexibility in both my mind and my body. It has taught me to live in the moment and to enjoy life. My goal is to share this great practice we call “yoga”.

I am a life-long athlete who has been able to turn my passion for sport/athletics, training & conditioning and foundational movement (in general!), into my life’s work. I knew from an early age that I would pursue a career in fitness/health & wellness. Early in my career, I worked in Population and Public Health as the Provincial Coordinator of Mental Health Promotion for Alberta Health Services. That 6-years of my career was spent creating public health resources and rolling out provincial MHP initiatives centred on how to build and foster resilience throughout the lifespan - from infants to seniors! From schools to workplaces! Mental Health Promotion and fostering resiliency skills was (and still is!) my ‘jam’! It was a great job! It taught me so much that I use every day in my life, and I apply much of that work in my coaching practice too.

In 2013, I got married and left AHS to become a stay-at-home parent for a few years. That was ALSO a great ‘job’! In 2018 I decided to get back to work and saw my journey come full circle when I became a CanFitPro certified Personal Training Specialist.

I love working 1-1, with couples (friends and/or spouses!) and small groups as well. A

I can’t wait to see you all around the gym..! 🤞👊💪
